Jangwani; a gem by a waterfall

What’s the greatest adventure you have taken part in so far this year? I have done many things so far in 2019 and I have been contemplating on the best to share but I couldn’t come up with the best of the best as they are all best of the best.

Out of the blue I just found myself being pushed by some will to share about a destination that I went to and can say it qualifies to be a “Hidden Gem” of Kenya.

At first when the choice came for me to set foot there I would not resist and just say “Yes, I need to go and see it”. My destination was along the adventure packed Sagana River that is more like the Kenyan “Ugandan River Nile” which is know as the capital of adventure as there are similar activities on Sagana River as they are at the Ugandan Nile which include Bungee Jumping which I have done both at Sagana and Jinja ( Click here to read about my Sagana Bungee jump…………. ), water rafting which is the main attraction, kayaking to much more.

This time i was joining the amazing team of Safiri Nasi as they headed out to a place that i have been only following online through their social media pages and it always looks beautiful and a place worth a visit. My day to set foot at Jangwani was here and i was in the company of the most amazing people.

The drive was all a similar experience but my expectation was different this time as i have been to Sagana for a number of times but the only difference i was expecting something new: a new destination with hopes it wouldn’t disappoint me.

On arrival at the camp, i was just swept out of my feet and i was all amazed thanks to the beautiful views of the camp down the hill with a backdrop of a waterfall. I almost ran down the hundred or so stair cases down to the camp.

i can say this is one of the most beautiful camp i have been to in Sagana thanks to the backdrop of the cascading waterfall {i wonder how it sounds at night when one is inside their tent as the night grows old, something am looking forward to experience a night at this camp} and the whole place is set up in the most simplest but most beautiful plan that a campsite can be.

I will talk of my camping experience at this camp when i do but let me stick to the purpose of my visit. Our water rafting experience started when our lead guide came to us to make introduction and give basic instructions that were a requirement for a fun day that was ahead of us all { to me it was like being in class for repeated lesson as this was not my first water rafting experience but still i played and stuck to the whole session like it was the first time ever}.

Done with basic instructions and dressing up for the water adventure, we carried our rafting into the river ready for a fun day at the river. This point of time i was all laughing at the members i was with as it was their first time experience and for the first few minutes the spoke less and shaken to some extent it could be seen in their faces.

Minutes after the other, the games got more fun from being taught how to float to roaring the raft forward, backwards to the most difficult which is balancing on the raft.

Later on it became more of adventure activity as we directed our raft towards the roaring waterfall that ended up having the members seated at the front get splashed by the waterfall.

It was an amazing adventure that i can saw it teaches one more on the importance of working as a team more than as an individual. Its a team building activity only that it has got its own thrill and twists that come along your participation as we had met as strangers and by the end of the adventure we felt more close as great friends who had met many years back. From one point the raft would have flipped and it required the help of team members to bring back everyone to the raft.

at times id one member was not paddling well, the raft would find it difficult and rough at the foot of the falls or even the team would find it had to control the raft.

After 2 hours of enjoyment we finished our day with a sumptuous and delicious lunch that we got opportunity to laugh out the experience of rafting and knowing each other more.

This was also an opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds of jangwani camp as others tried their failed careers in modeling.

If anyone asked me, “would you go back to Jangwani camp?” my answer would be so simple and straight forwards “its not about if i would go back, its that am already planning to return”

The team of Safiri Nasi , Tujionee Kenyan Adventures and Virgin explorers already have a package that will be a 2nd edition of water rafting at Jangwani campwhich
